wire-wound silk snare wires

a quick installation guide
Home/ Gallery/ wire-wound silk snare wires installation

One of the most essential steps is to thread the snare wires onto the uninstalled throw-off slides first, to avoid any curling or bending of the strands.

The photos and the video in this section are quite self-explanatory. If you need any more help or have any further questions, please feel free to email me.

Unscrew the three-piece adjustment nuts. This will allow you to remove the slides from the throw-off.
Two different types of wire-wound silk snares (for two-slide throw-offs only). The strands are long, with a length twice the diameter of the drum.
Bend all the snare strands in the middle, keeping them as straight as possible.

Snare wires - threaded on the large slide
Both slides with the snare wires installed.
Install the large slide onto the throw-off.
Thread the lower portion of the adjustment nut onto the rod of the large slide. Ensure that the throw-off lever is in the 'on' position.
Thread each snare wire through the corresponding snare gate (both the throw-off and the butt side). Always keep the wires as straight as possible and avoid bending them.
Install the small slide onto the throw-off.
Thread the lower portion of the adjustment nut onto the rod of the small slide. Ensure that the throw-off lever is in the 'on' position.
Thread the circlips and the upper portions of the three-piece adjustment nuts onto the rods of the slides. The rods should stick out slightly, but not too much!
Thread each snare wire through the corresponding snare gate (both the throw-off and the butt side). Always keep the wires as straight as possible and avoid bending them.
Open the small Allen bolts on the butt plate slightly to allow the snare wires to enter the holes.
Thread each individual snare strand through the corresponding hole in the butt plate.
Hold the central strands at an equal tension...
...and lock them by closing the Allen bolts. To prevent wires from getting clipped, be sure to avoid using too much force.
Follow the same procedure for locking/securing the outer snare wires.
